What kkamagi needs, sends, and keeps while you interpret.
Do I need an API key?
Yes. Use your own OpenAI or Google API key. That is why there is no subscription — you pay your provider only for what you use. The key is stored in macOS Keychain.
Which languages can it interpret into?
With Google Gemini, up to 78 languages including English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, French, German, and Vietnamese. OpenAI supports 13 languages.
Is my own voice interpreted?
No. kkamagi only interprets audio playing on your Mac and never uses your microphone. On a video call, only the other side is interpreted.
What audio can I interpret?
Audio playing in compatible macOS apps is included while interpretation is on. DRM-protected audio may not be available.
What happens to my audio?
While interpretation is on, audio playing in other apps may be sent to your selected provider, OpenAI or Google. kkamagi's own playback is excluded, and original and translated audio are not saved as files.
What Mac do I need?
A Mac running macOS 14.2 or later. Allow system audio recording when macOS asks.
